Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua unveils extensive updates: Travel Weekly

July 11, 2022 by GFT Reporter

The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua is entering the final phase of its $100 million renovations, transforming guestrooms, dining experiences and public spaces. The propertywide project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“This transformation brings new beauty and new energy to our surrounding environment as the entire resort celebrates our unique sense of place,” said Andrew Rogers, general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Maui, Kapalua. “Our team of talented Hawaii-based architects, designers and builders worked closely with our longtime cultural advisor, Clifford Naeole, to achieve our vision for the future of the resort as a luxury destination.”

The lobby’s new patio has been designed to pay homage to Hawaii’s culture, including “hand-carved wooden kapa panels” and light fixtures “inspired by ancient fishing traps.” Guestrooms, suites and residences are refreshed with colors and dark woods that evoke a tropical setting. There is a new premium room category, the Fire Lanai Collection, which is on the ground floor of the Napili Tower and features a sun deck and fire pit on extended patios. The resort’s 10,000-square-foot pool has been reimagined and debuted seven luxury cabanas and beds.

Banyan Tree, Alaloa Lounge and Kai Cafe continue to be central dining destinations. The resort’s breakfast restaurant, Ulana Terrance, has been redesigned, and there’s a new lunch destination, Olu Cafe, where visitors can find cocktails, sandwiches and light dishes.

For meetings and private events, the Aloha Garden Pavilion has transformed. Its indoor-outdoor event space includes new audio-visual capabilities, furniture and glass doors.
