Leave it to Airstream, maker of the iconic “silver bullet” fleet of Airstream travel trailers, to create a mobile office travel trailer, the ultimate in remote working and travel environments.
Their brand new Flying Cloud 30FB Office , which was unveiled today, features a dedicated office space, greater connectivity, and power options, all in a vehicle that can accommodate travelers’ needs for a weekend getaway or a month-long road trip.
Inspired by the shifting work/ travel landscape during the pandemic, Airstream garnered feedback from its owners who were already working remotely from the comfort of their travel trailer. Airstream’s engineers redesigned the rear corner of their Flying Cloud 30FB Corner Bunk travel trailer, replacing the sleeping area with a “work from anywhere” office space.
The end result is a trailer that can accommodate couples or small families on trips of varying lengths while providing a dedicated and highly functional workspace. No more balancing a laptop on your knees or a picnic table in an ersatz office environment. The 30FB Office is designed for 21st century workers who have new requirements for work and travel.
“The pandemic has permanently changed the traditional work landscape and we’re thrilled to offer a travel trailer that meets the needs of our times without compromise,” said Bob Wheeler, Airstream President and CEO. “Airstream has always provided the freedom of a mobile living, playing, and working space, but the Flying Cloud 30FB Office takes that promise to the next level with flexibility and comfort in a design inspired by real-world experience.”
MORE FOR YOU
The dedicated workspace includes an office chair that slides into a recessed groove in the edge of the desk, allowing owners to easily convert the space into a sleeping or relaxing area for one. Sliding drawers and storage cubbies provide organization. There’s a privacy divider and black-out curtains to offer a measure of privacy while doing video calls on the road.
There are several USB ports located throughout the desk area and a pop-up USB/AC outlet supported by the 1000W power inverter. A pull-out table creating more workspace and slides out of sight when not in use. There is access to the satellite TV/HDMI outlets from the onboard Blu-Ray DVD player. Two desk grommets are for organizing cables or mounting monitors and there are overhead storage cabinets with dry-erase surfaces and under-mount LED lights.
Three windows give the office space a nearly panoramic view, while blackout curtains allow you to control light for video calls, or block the window views for better concentration. Standard options like Airstream Connected are also pre-wired for easy bundling of dealer-installed upgrades, like Airstream Power Plus and the Solar Package. These offer owners more ways to stay powered, stay connected, and stay off the grid while working for longer. Zoom calls from the desert, the mountains, or a remote beach have never sounded sweeter.
The Flying Cloud 30FB Office has a queen bed, plus a bench and convertible dinette, which means that the travel trailer can sleep up to six. There’s also small kitchen area and a bathroom with a dedicated shower stall. It would be spacious for a couple on the road.
The Flying Cloud 30FB Office is 30 feet, 10 inches long, and 8 feet, 5.5 inches wide, with a base weight of 6,757 pounds and a maximum trailer capacity (GVWR) of 8,800 pounds. It’s towing-compatible with a variety of SUVs and trucks. The MSRP is $107,500 and inventory is expected at Airstream dealers in the coming weeks, just in time to hit the road this summer.
